Biharsharif, Oct 30 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi, during his second day of campaigning for the Bihar elections, intensified his criticism of the double-engine government led by Nitish Kumar. He accused it of failing the citizens of the state in fundamental public services such as education, health, and sanitation.
Gandhi made a provocative assertion that Nitish Kumar is not actually in control of the state, but rather that the central government is calling the shots, with the Bihar Chief Minister being remote-controlled by the Modi administration.
“The remote control of Nitish ji lies in the hands of Narendra Modi. Hence, I doubt whether the state is being governed by Nitish Kumar. The real governance is in the grasp of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah,” he stated.
While addressing a large rally in Nalanda, the home district of Nitish Kumar, Congress MPs highlighted their criticisms of his administration.
Gandhi praised the industriousness of the people of Bihar, noting their contributions not just locally but also in global cities like Dubai, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, where they have developed infrastructure through hard work, yet they are overlooked in their home state.
He criticized the Bihar government over issues such as ‘paper leaks’, asserting that the potential of Bihar's youth is being squandered, as their aspirations are shattered by such incidents.
Further, he dismissed the government’s boasts of progress in recent years, stating that the reality starkly contrasts with the claims made.
“While Nitish Kumar asserts he has transformed Bihar, the truth reveals that residents lack adequate facilities for education and healthcare. There is consistently a long queue of individuals from Bihar at AIIMS in Delhi, who travel from various districts for treatment. The people have shared with me that if they visit a hospital in Bihar, they often do not return,” he recounted, eliciting strong reactions from the audience.
In a bid to reassure voters ahead of the elections, the Congress leader promised that upon the formation of a Grand Alliance government in Bihar, the world's largest university would be established in Nalanda.
