Bhopal, Feb 19 (NationPress) The National Students Union of India (NSUI) has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, the Principal Secretary of the Higher Education Department, and the Commissioner, urging for the immediate release of scholarships under the Mukhyamantri Medhavi Scholarship Scheme along with other government scholarship initiatives.
Viraj Yadav, the National Spokesperson of NSUI, presented the demand memorandum.
The document strongly criticized the discriminatory policies impacting students and called on the authorities to rectify the matter without any further delays.
According to the memorandum, thousands of students statewide have been awaiting their scholarship funds for the past two to three years. Many students enrolled in the 2022 academic year are now nearing graduation without receiving the promised financial support, resulting in severe financial strain; some have even resorted to loans to continue their studies.
Recently, numerous students have contacted Viraj Yadav via calls, emails, and letters, expressing their frustration over the lack of scholarship disbursement despite repeated applications.
Students voiced their disappointment, asserting that they achieved commendable grades and enrolled under the government’s scholarship scheme, yet their funds remain unpaid.
Many have reapplied several times on the scholarship portal but have not received any feedback, placing them in a precarious situation as educational institutions continue to demand tuition fees.
Some students have even indicated that if the situation does not change, they may have no option but to withdraw from their studies.
Highlighting significant concerns regarding the government’s accountability, Viraj Yadav challenged the authorities on the unfulfilled commitments made to students.
He noted that while scholarship funds are set aside in the budget, students have yet to receive their due amounts for the last two years.
He also condemned the government for spending large sums on banners, posters, and hoardings, while neglecting to deliver the scholarships owed to students.
Meanwhile, the debt burden of Madhya Pradesh continues to escalate, prompting critical inquiries regarding the status of these funds.
