Bhubaneswar, Dec 30 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, on Tuesday presented appointment letters to 1,543 individuals from 11 government departments during the 14th edition of the ‘Nijukti Mela’.
During his address, the Chief Minister emphasized that a government position not only provides financial stability to families but also entails increased responsibility towards serving the people of Odisha.
Highlighting the government's dedication to creating job opportunities, CM Majhi stated that the state has conducted 14 job fairs in the past 18 months, enabling 39,459 appointments thus far. Tuesday's event marked the fifth-largest in this series.
“Today, you and your families can celebrate as you have secured your future. However, with this job comes a new duty. You are not merely performing governmental tasks; you are serving the citizens of this state,” the Chief Minister remarked while addressing the new employees.
CM Majhi also urged the new hires to abstain from corrupt activities, underscoring the state government's zero tolerance for corruption.
Referring to substantial recoveries of disproportionate assets during anti-corruption raids at the homes of governmental officials, he advised the recently appointed staff to avoid disgrace by steering clear of corrupt practices that could lead to exposure in media.
The Chief Minister also shared the state's development vision, asserting that Odisha is striving towards ‘Samrudha Odisha’ (Prosperous Odisha) by 2036, coinciding with the state’s centenary. He added that this vision aligns with the national goal of achieving ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In terms of recruitment objectives, Majhi revealed that the government plans to fill 150,000 vacancies over the next five years, including 65,000 posts by June 2026. He noted that nearly 40,000 positions have already been filled in the last eighteen months. Wishing success to the new appointees, the Chief Minister urged them to approach their responsibilities with sincerity and contribute to Odisha’s growth narrative.
