Bhubaneswar, March 3 (NationPress) The Odisha Police have intensified their security protocols ahead of the festive occasion of Holi in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, as announced by Commissioner of Police Suresh Dev Datta Singh on Tuesday.
In a statement to the press, Singh emphasized that Holi is celebrated widely in both cities every year. As a result, comprehensive safety measures have been established, with additional precautions implemented this year.
He mentioned that approximately 30 police platoons and around 100 officers will be stationed throughout sensitive areas and places with high foot traffic.
The Commissioner highlighted the importance of maintaining order and ensuring safety during the celebrations, aiming to prevent any inconvenience for citizens.
Fire Services and ODRAF personnel will be positioned at 10 bathing ghats and along riverbanks to prevent any incidents.
Moreover, four quick-response teams will be on standby to address emergencies swiftly. Enforcement measures will include 17 mobile units equipped with breath analyzers patrolling various locations. Checks for drunken driving will occur at approximately 85 different sites across the cities.
Singh made a heartfelt appeal to the youth, urging them to prioritize their safety and to avoid risky areas, especially when under the influence of substances.
The police have pinpointed vulnerable riverbanks and water bodies known for accidents during Holi and have deployed appropriate forces in these areas.
He warned against engaging in dangerous activities, such as swimming in deep rivers or performing risky stunts, which often lead to accidents during the festivities.
“Every young individual is a treasured asset to their family, and no loss can be compensated,” he stated, encouraging both parents and young people to practice caution and responsibility.
Additionally, he advised against organizing large bathing events in unsafe locations and cautioned that strict enforcement will be coordinated with the Excise Department to ensure celebrations adhere to legal regulations.
