Patna, March 1 (NationPress) With the vibrant festival of Holi approaching, the Siwan district police in Bihar have enhanced security protocols to guarantee a peaceful celebration.

District Superintendent of Police (SP) Amitesh Kumar has issued strict orders to combat illegal liquor smuggling and boost border monitoring, especially in regions adjacent to Uttar Pradesh.

To tackle the illicit liquor trade, Kumar has formed Anti-liquor task force teams to carry out raids based on intelligence information.

“In the past week, authorities have confiscated over 500 litres of unauthorized country liquor. Checkpoints have been established along the Siwan-UP border for continuous vehicle inspections and surveillance,” Kumar stated.

Siwan, which borders Ballia, Gorakhpur, and Deoria districts in UP, has been a hotspot for interstate crimes and liquor smuggling. Additional security personnel have been deployed to avert potential disruptions during the Holi festival.

“We have conducted meetings with village heads and local leaders to encourage a violence-free and liquor-free celebration. The "Nasha Mukt Holi" campaign is actively promoting awareness in schools, panchayats, and social media with hashtags like #SafeHoli2025,” Kumar expressed.

SP Amitesh Kumar has underscored a zero tolerance policy for alcohol-related crimes, particularly those involving women.

He stated, "Country-made liquor is not only illegal but also dangerous. Excessive drinking during Holi frequently leads to violence. We will enforce strict measures against any misconduct."

"The safety of every citizen is our top priority. The joy of Holi is truly meaningful only when celebrated in a safe and respectful manner. The Siwan administration is diligently working to ensure that this festival is memorable for its harmony and the beauty of colors, rather than for violence and unrest,” he added.

The proactive initiatives by the Siwan Police are aimed at preserving the authentic essence of Holi—a festival of colors, joy, and unity, devoid of illegal activities and violence.
