In a press briefing after a significant review meeting regarding the Subhadra scheme held in Bhubaneswar, Deputy CM Pravati Parida revealed that the Women and Child Development department will carry out a comprehensive door-to-door investigation of the 2.85 lakh beneficiaries who missed out on financial aid during the third installment of the SUBHADRA scheme, which is a key initiative of the state government.
Parida emphasized that officials are mandated to finish this field survey within 15 days and to report back to the department.
The Deputy CM also instructed authorities to initiate the process for the Subhadra grievance redressal module to address complaints related to this significant state program.
Furthermore, eligible beneficiaries who have not received benefits under the scheme may apply via the online portal. The W&CD department announced that a list of 15,984 beneficiaries excluded due to death has been forwarded to the state Health and Family Welfare Department for verification.
According to Parida, the Women and Child Development Department will depend on the verification results from the Health and Family Welfare Department regarding those excluded from the Subhadra scheme due to death. Reports suggest that out of the 15,984 beneficiaries classified as deceased, approximately 1,805 were later discovered to be alive.
Additionally, reports indicate that over 36,000 beneficiaries were excluded for owning vehicles, while more than 21,000 women were omitted for filing Income Tax returns.
Many others have faced exclusion from receiving financial support for various reasons. The Subhadra Yojana is a flagship financial aid program initiated by the Odisha government aimed at empowering women throughout the state. Under this scheme, eligible women receive Rs 10,000 annually, distributed in two installments.
This initiative will span five years, during which each eligible beneficiary will be entitled to a total of Rs 50,000.
