Bhubaneswar, March 21 (NationPress) Odisha is set to establish a Centre of Excellence in Skill Development designed to equip the state's youth with essential skills for the industries of the future.

This announcement was made by Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary during a meeting with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan on Thursday.

The meeting included comprehensive discussions on the execution of various central schemes in Odisha.

“The discussions emphasized the expansion of skill development initiatives, including the creation of more skill training centers. The Union Minister revealed that, as part of the current budget, five Centres of Excellence for skill development will be established nationwide, with one located in Odisha,” the state government stated in a press release.

The Union Minister also explored strategies to enhance Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state, the establishment of additional World Skill Centres to advance technical training, and the creation of a Multi-Language Training Centre for skill development students.

Furthermore, it was discussed that ITIs in tribal-dominated areas would be integrated through the expansion of the PM-JANMAN Yojana to improve skill development among youth in these regions.

Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary showed a positive outlook on these initiatives and committed to making necessary decisions promptly for their implementation.

It is important to note that the union government had previously announced the establishment of five National Centres of Excellence for skilling, focusing on global expertise to enhance India's competitiveness and provide world-class training in emerging sectors.
