Bhubaneswar, April 17 (NationPress) The Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday declared that the road infrastructure in Odisha would be developed to meet US standards in the upcoming years.

He made these remarks during an event at Baramunda in Bhubaneswar, where he laid the foundation and inaugurated 19 significant National Highway projects worth over Rs 4000 crore throughout the state.

While addressing the audience, Gadkari emphasized that Odisha is making rapid strides under the guidance of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi since the BJP took office in the state.

“We must establish world-class infrastructure for the state's development. This infrastructure encompasses water, power, transport, and communication. Odisha is endowed with ports, mineral resources, forests, wildlife, and tremendous potential for tourism growth. It is crucial to enhance road infrastructure to foster development across all these sectors,” stated the Union Minister.

He noted that the nation has seen remarkable advancements in infrastructure development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past 11 years.

Gadkari disclosed that projects worth approximately Rs 2 lakh crores are currently underway in Odisha.

“Of this, projects valued at Rs 60,000 crore have been completed, while another Rs 60,000 crore worth of projects are currently in progress,” he mentioned.

The Union Minister indicated that projects worth Rs 75,000 crore will commence soon in the state.

He also mentioned that the Centre is working on a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for initiatives valued at Rs 40,000 crore.

“I assure you that we will finalize projects worth Rs 3 lakh crore in the next two years and ensure that the road infrastructure in Odisha meets US standards,” stated Gadkari.

Additionally, the Union Minister announced several upcoming and ongoing major road infrastructure projects across various regions of the state during his speech on Thursday.

He confirmed the approval of 13 new projects worth Rs 9000 crore requested by CM Majhi.

Following this, the Union Minister visited the World Skill Centre in Bhubaneswar.

Accompanied by CM Majhi, Gadkari observed the world-class facilities at the WSC, which include advanced laboratories for Vertical Transportation, a Centre of Excellence in Advanced Welding, Automation, and Basic Robotics.

He expressed satisfaction, noting that the centre is significantly contributing to skill development and providing industry-oriented training for the state's youth.

The Union Minister also commended the state government for establishing this state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Earlier, the Union Minister participated in a special event commemorating the 125th birth anniversary of the esteemed freedom fighter Harekrushna Mahtab, held at Ravenshaw University in Cuttack.
