Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) Avadh Ojha, a former leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a prominent educator, characterized Union Home Minister Amit Shah as a “strong-willed” political leader with excellent decision-making capabilities during an exclusive interview with IANS on Thursday.
Ojha expressed his approval of Shah’s recent comments regarding the potential end of Maoism in India, labeling it as a significant milestone. He stated, “If this is accurate, it represents a monumental achievement. Maoism has been a longstanding issue for our nation, and its resolution would bring great relief.”
When discussing comparisons made between Shah’s leadership and that of Sardar Patel, Ojha remarked, “Amit Shah possesses a strong political acumen and makes sound decisions. Occasionally, when I watch him respond to queries on television, I feel he is mirroring the path of an Iron Man.”
Regarding the forthcoming 2026 West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections, Ojha noted that the BJP seems poised to present a formidable challenge, with a rising desire for change among voters.
The elections are slated for April 23 and 29, aiming to fill all 294 seats in the state assembly, with the vote counting set for May 4.
Ojha stated, “People argue that defeating Mamata Didi is a tough task; however, the BJP is resolute this time around. They have raised concerns about Bangladeshi immigrants, indicating that they are ready for a robust fight.”
He added, “Government change is entirely possible. The public is yearning for a shift. Didi has held power for a considerable time. Just as I see in UP that people desire change, the same sentiment is echoed in Bengal.”
Avadh Ojha, who has trained candidates for civil services exams, previously contested the Delhi assembly elections on an AAP ticket from Patparganj, a constituency that consistently elected Manish Sisodia in 2013, 2015, and 2020.
After his electoral defeat, Ojha announced his “retirement” from politics, referring to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal as “a very great leader” in his farewell message.
