New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) Former AAP leader and educator Avadh Ojha, who has recently withdrawn from active politics, shared his thoughts with IANS regarding the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal. He mentioned that although many believe it is challenging to unseat Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the BJP is exceptionally resolute this time around. Furthermore, he emphasized the necessity for a shift in Uttar Pradesh and advocated for a rotational system that keeps political parties accountable to the electorate.

IANS: What is your perspective on the West Bengal Assembly elections? Do you foresee Mamata Banerjee retaining power or could the BJP turn things around?

Avadh Ojha: People often say it’s tough to defeat Mamata Didi, yet the BJP's determination is palpable this time. They have spotlighted issues surrounding foreign refugees and Bangladeshis, which indicates they are prepared to mount a serious challenge. The desire for change is strong. Didi has held her position for many years. Just like in Uttar Pradesh, where I believe the electorate seeks change, the same sentiment applies to Bengal.

IANS: Do you believe Akhilesh Yadav should return to power in UP? What are his chances?

Avadh Ojha: Change is essential. In a state like Uttar Pradesh, where citizens have numerous party options, it's sensible to allow a new leader a chance. Yogi Adityanath has governed well, maintaining law and order for two terms, but it's time to test new leadership. This ensures that parties remain vigilant, aware that they can be replaced.

IANS: What do you think about Union Home Minister Amit Shah's pledge to eradicate Naxalism? How significant is this achievement?

Avadh Ojha: This is a monumental achievement, as Naxalism posed a severe threat to India. If eradicated, it marks a major triumph over one of the country’s significant challenges.

IANS: Do you see Amit Shah as following in the footsteps of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel?

Avadh Ojha: Yes, he exhibits a strong political acumen and decisive nature. I often observe his responses on television and feel he embodies the spirit of an iron man.

IANS: What are your thoughts on Nitish Kumar's resignation and upcoming Rajya Sabha position?

Avadh Ojha: After sitting in luxury, one should not downgrade to mediocrity unless forced. Nitish Kumar is a significant political figure, having ruled Bihar for two decades. His victory in the last election was solely his achievement. Therefore, he should either aspire for the Prime Minister's position or retire after his extensive service to the nation.

IANS: Do you regret joining the Aam Aadmi Party?

Avadh Ojha: Absolutely not. I have no regrets.

IANS: Is there any political leader you consider ideal?

Avadh Ojha: I don't deem anyone an ideal leader, but I hold Arvind Kejriwal in high regard. My discussions with him focused on industry and national progress, which I believe is the type of leader India needs.

IANS: How do you view BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh? Is he a strongman, a don, or a social worker?

Avadh Ojha: In my city, he is perceived as a 'bahubali' (strongman). Baba Ramdev was also asked about his status—while I wouldn't label him a don, 'bahubali' fits him well, as it signifies a leader who commands respect and authority. His confidence in elections exemplifies this strongman behavior.

IANS: What do you think about the controversies surrounding NCERT?

Avadh Ojha: Education should foster wisdom. However, those in power often promote their ideologies. For instance, in China, one wouldn't expect to learn about democracy; rather, one would be taught Communist ideology. Similarly, if we became Communists, our educational materials would reflect that.

IANS: Can we anticipate your entrance into cinema?

Avadh Ojha: I have solid connections within Bollywood and have sought roles from scriptwriter Puneet Krishna of Mirzapur among others. I aspire to play a villain, as portraying a hero might not resonate with me.

IANS: What is your opinion on the FCRA Amendment Bill 2026?

Avadh Ojha: It's a positive move. While foreign funding can aid development, it can also incite instability. Understanding the origins of financial support is crucial, especially with numerous NGOs and ashrams popping up.

IANS: What are your thoughts on the recent mob sexual harassment incident in Nalanda, Bihar?

Avadh Ojha: There must be stringent action against such incidents. Without control, they set a dangerous precedent. For instance, in UP, men think twice before misbehaving due to the stringent laws.

IANS: What do you make of the liquor ban being lifted in Bihar?

Avadh Ojha: If liquor sales generate substantial revenue, it could be beneficial. However, implementing meditation in schools is essential. Stress leads people to seek intoxication; teaching meditation could reduce this.
