Srinagar, March 1 (NationPress) J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday criticized the BJP for allegedly creating a ‘shadow cabinet’, asserting that the government is committed to delivering on all its promises to the populace, and emphasized that there is no established practice of forming a ‘shadow cabinet’ in the nation.

During a press conference regarding the preparations for the sacred month of Ramazan, the Chief Minister stated that he had convened a meeting to assess the readiness for the holy month.

He emphasized that it is the government's duty to ensure that all necessary facilities are available to the people.

"We evaluated every department and instructed all to guarantee that every service is provided, including power supply during Sehri and Iftar, water supply, ration distribution, sanitation, and traffic management," he mentioned.

Additionally, the Chief Minister paid a visit to the home of Ghulam Sibtain Masoodi, the father-in-law of senior separatist figure Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, to offer his condolences following Sibtain's passing on Friday.

He was the sibling of ruling National Conference (NC) MLA, Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi.

The Chief Minister also met with L-G Manoj Sinha at the Raj Bhawan to discuss matters concerning the upcoming budget session of the Assembly, set to commence on March 3.

Previously, NC spokesperson and MLA Tanvir Sadiq expressed optimism that the Centre would restore statehood to J&K in the coming months.

Tanvir also dismissed claims that he discussed any alternative plans should statehood not be reinstated to J&K.

The approaching budget session of the J&K Assembly is anticipated to be tumultuous due to the numerous controversial private bill notices submitted to Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.

One such bill scheduled for discussion in the Assembly, pending Speaker approval, concerns a prohibition on alcohol in J&K. This bill was submitted by NC MLA Ahsan Pardesi.

Another contentious bill, for which notice has been provided to the Speaker by PDP MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, seeks to amend the J&K Reorganisation Act 2019 to include provisions for permanent residents of the former J&K state.

It is important to note that the J&K Reorganisation Act 2019 was enacted by Parliament.
