New Delhi, July 28 (NationPress) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday extended his commendation and gratitude to the Indian armed forces for executing precision strikes against terror organizations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir during 'Operation Sindoor', while ensuring the safety of the civilian populace.
During a much-anticipated discussion on 'Operation Sindoor' in the Lok Sabha, Rajnath Singh stated that despite having multiple options, the Indian forces chose a strategy that targeted and annihilated terror installations, keeping in mind regional stability and security.
"I pay tribute to the brave individuals who risked their lives for our nation. They are ever-ready and remain at the forefront. I also honor and express the nation’s gratitude to those heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice," he remarked.
Reflecting on the initiation of India’s military response to the Pahalgam terror attack, the Defence Minister noted: "On May 6-7, the Indian armed forces undertook a military operation, named 'Operation Sindoor'. This was more than a military endeavor; it was a decisive and effective manifestation of our commitment to safeguarding our sovereignty and combating terrorism."
He condemned the Pahalgam massacre, labeling the terror assault as an "inhumane and cowardly" act against India.
"On April 22, a vile and cowardly terror attack occurred, resulting in the deaths of 25 Indians and a Nepali citizen. They were targeted based on their religion, exemplifying one of the most despicable acts," he emphasized.
The Defence Minister mentioned that following the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level meeting with military chiefs, granting them the autonomy to execute "decisive actions, taking into account their judgment and regional security considerations."
"Our military leadership not only demonstrated maturity but also exhibited the strategic wisdom expected from a responsible nation like India," Singh stated.
"Prior to executing 'Operation Sindoor', our forces evaluated various strategies and ultimately resolved to implement a plan that would ensure the complete destruction of all terror camps while safeguarding civilians in Pakistan," Singh added.
In praising the military actions, the Defence Minister mentioned, "The meticulously coordinated strikes by our forces precisely targeted nine terror sites. Moreover, this operation resulted in the elimination of over 100 terrorists, including their leaders and trainers from groups such as Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba. I strive to be precise, but the actual number could be significantly higher."
