Mumbai, Dec 5 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, expressed on Friday that the choice to provide a 1 percent reservation for orphans is one of the most fulfilling moments of his career, describing it as a heart-warming decision.
He noted that this initiative is deeply rooted in the concept of 'Equality of Opportunity' articulated by Babasaheb Ambedkar, aiming to promote opportunities for marginalized groups like orphans beyond traditional social reservations.
The Chief Minister proudly shared that, thanks to this initiative, 862 young individuals have gained self-sufficiency by securing government jobs through this quota, contributing positively to society.
These comments were made during his engagement with the young beneficiaries who have attained government positions under this quota at his residence, 'Varsha'.
Fadnavis encouraged these beneficiaries to become 'Role Models' within their communities and stressed the importance of continuing their efforts to support society as a form of gratitude.
He highlighted that this event marked the first anniversary of his oath of office, calling the meeting a 'beautiful start' for his year-end reflections.
“While the government makes numerous decisions and fulfills various tasks, some decisions resonate deeply. The choice to provide reservation for orphans is one such significant decision,” he stated.
He reiterated that the principle of 'Equality of Opportunity' defined by Ambedkar should extend beyond social reservations.
“Opportunities must also be made available to orphans, the disabled, and other marginalized communities. The decision to reserve 1 percent for orphans was inspired by this vision and has genuinely transformed many lives,” he added.
Fadnavis highlighted that all achievements stem from the collective efforts of society, including schools, institutions, governance, and industries, and these successes are the results of shared societal contributions.
He declared it the 'Dharma' (duty) of every individual to contribute back to society.
“Do not settle for where you are. The success you have achieved through hard work should motivate you to continuously strive for societal betterment. Even after reaching stability, keep the spirit of giving back to society alive in your heart,” he advised.
The youths also expressed their gratitude to Fadnavis and the government for the educational and employment opportunities that have allowed them to live with dignity.
“Today, we stand as an inspiration to other orphaned children,” they proudly declared.
