Thiruvananthapuram, May 8 (NationPress) A filmmaking couple from Kerala is thrilled about the revelation that the Indian Navy Anthem has been emulated by Pakistan. In response, the director of the Indian Navy anthem, Sanjeev Sivan, expressed to IANS: "When your adversaries mimic you, it’s incredibly gratifying to assert that 'We are the best… indeed, we are the best.'"
“My personal motto has always been 'Second to none',” Sanjeev added, who, together with his wife Deepti Sivan, was behind the direction of the Indian Navy anthem.
He mentioned that they directed the anthem titled 'Call of the Blue Waters' in 2022, featuring vocals by Shankar Mahadevan, with lyrics penned by Prasoon Joshi and music composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
Sanjeev pointed out that Pakistan's Inter-Service Public Relations released a four-minute video that closely mirrors the Indian Navy Anthem, titled ‘Taiyyar Hain Hum’.
This release followed the Indian Armed Forces' execution of ‘Operation Sindoor’.
On Thursday morning, former Union Minister and BJP President in Kerala, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, shared on social media: "Two exceptionally talented Malayalees, Sanjeev Sivan and Deepti Sivan, crafted this video, with Kerala’s own Adm Harikumar serving as the chief of @indiannavy - thus, it carries the Kerala essence."
Sanjeev, originally from the state capital, is the youngest son of the late national award-winning filmmaker Sivan.
All three of Sivan’s sons are prominent in the film industry, with acclaimed cinematographer and national award winner Santosh Sivan being the most recognized.
The eldest son, Sangeeth Sivan, directed ‘Yodha’, one of the most celebrated Malayalam films featuring Mohanlal. Sadly, Sangeeth passed away last year.
In a notable development, Sanjeev’s 14-year-old son, Sidhanshu Sanjeev Sivan, has been appointed to lead the children's jury at the 55th Giffoni International Film Festival in Italy.
Sidhanshu, currently in Class XI, will journey to Italy to preside over the jury at the Giffoni festival, scheduled from July 18 to 28, recognized as one of the world's premier children’s film festivals.
He made his acting debut in ‘Ozhuki Ozhuki Ozhuki’, directed by his father.
Recently, he portrayed a dual role in Achappa’s Album (English title: Grampa’s Album), a time-travel children’s film helmed by his mother and produced by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).
This film was showcased in a special market screening at the European Film Market (EFM) during the Berlinale 2025.
