New Delhi, Aug 9 (NationPress) The political exchange heated up on Saturday following the statement from Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh that India had downed five Pakistani fighter jets during Operation Sindoor.
The Shiv Sena accused the Congress of aligning with Pakistan’s narrative, while the opposition party raised concerns regarding the government's timing of the disclosure and inconsistencies in the reported events.
Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC vehemently criticized Congress, asserting that by rejecting the Indian government’s account while accepting Pakistan's, the party has effectively become a spokesperson for Pakistan.
“The Army, Navy, and Air Force have performed admirably to ensure India's safety. When serious allegations are made without credible evidence, it reveals their true mentality,” she told IANS.
Pointing to Rahul Gandhi’s previous comments regarding Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev, Shaina NC accused the Leader of Opposition of disrespecting both the Prime Minister and the armed forces.
“When the Air Force Chief states they shot down five Pakistani aircraft, that is a public truth. Until Rahul Gandhi acknowledges this, the populace will neither accept nor respect him,” she added.
On the other hand, Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat expressed that the party fully trusts the armed forces but demands more transparency from the government.
"I have confidence in the Indian Army and the government. But why has there been no response from the government since the Army stated the incident occurred on April 22, followed by Operation Sindoor? Even during discussions in the House, were they silenced?"
Bhagat dismissed claims that Rahul Gandhi questioned the Army's valor, asserting that the Congress leader never did such a thing.
He cited Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement in Parliament that no Indian troops were killed, questioning why the government did not recognize the reported deaths of about 10 soldiers. “Were they not our troops? Did they not categorize them as martyrs?” he asked.
