New Delhi, May 11 (NationPress) Following a reported breach of a ceasefire agreement with India, the Pakistan Information and Broadcasting Minister, Attaullah Tarar, has refuted claims of any violations, even as India issued a firm warning indicating that their armed forces are prepared to respond to any further incidents of gunfire along the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC).
"Pakistan cannot commit any ceasefire violations nor has it considered such actions. This is a time for celebration as we perceive it as a victory," The Dawn cited Tarar during an interview with Geo News.
He emphasized that once a ceasefire is established, there is no question of Pakistan breaching it.
"Rationality should prevail rather than these unfounded accusations," he stated.
As of now, he affirmed, there are no violations attributed to Pakistan.
In a late-night press briefing, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri urged Pakistan to take necessary measures to rectify these violations and to handle the situation with seriousness and responsibility.
He noted that the armed forces have been instructed to respond decisively to any recurrence of border violations along both the International Border and the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.
"There have been repeated violations of the understanding reached earlier this evening between the Directors General of Military Operations of both countries," he added.
Misri described the situation as a breach of the agreement established earlier that day.
"The armed forces are providing an adequate and appropriate response to these violations, and we regard these incidents very seriously," he stated.
He further remarked that the armed forces are maintaining heightened vigilance over the situation.
"We urge Pakistan to take the necessary measures to address these violations and handle the situation with the seriousness and responsibility it deserves," Misri added.
"The armed forces are closely monitoring the situation and have been directed to respond firmly to any further violations along the International Border and the LoC," he reiterated.
India had initiated Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals.
India conducted strikes on nine terror sites within Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. In retaliation, Pakistan escalated tensions with a series of unprovoked artillery and drone attacks.
