Jammu, Feb 13 (NationPress) The Army announced on Thursday that the bilateral ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir remains in effect following an agreement between the armed forces of India and Pakistan.

This update follows reports of an unprovoked ceasefire violation by the Pakistan Army in the Poonch district, specifically in the Krishna Ghati sector. Sources indicated that the Pakistan Army incurred casualties due to retaliatory fire from the Indian Army.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Indian Army asserted, “The ceasefire on the LoC is intact and continues to be observed as per the understanding between both the armies (of India and Pakistan). Tension due to some sporadic incidents of cross LoC firing and a suspected IED explosion on one of our patrols on the LoC is being managed through the established mechanisms. No exchange of heavy-caliber fire has occurred. Minor incidents along the LoC are not uncommon. Concerns have been raised to the Pakistan Army at the appropriate level.”

“The situation remains stable and is being closely monitored. The Indian Army maintains a high state of alert and is effectively dominating the LoC,” the statement further clarified.

Additionally, following a security review meeting in Kashmir, J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha convened a similar meeting in the Jammu division.

This meeting included senior officials from the J&K Police, intelligence agencies, CAPFs, and the Army.

The context of the meeting was the recent loss of two soldiers, a captain and a jawan, who died on February 11 due to an IED explosion in the Akhnoor sector of the LoC in Jammu district.

It is believed that the IED was planted by terrorists. Reports suggest that Manoj Sinha issued clear directives to the security forces to ensure zero infiltration and to adopt a zero tolerance approach towards terrorism. These directives include dismantling the ecosystem supporting terrorism, maintaining zero tolerance for terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers.
