Jammu, Feb 17 (NationPress) The Lt Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha, stated on Monday that the Army is fully equipped to confront any situation along the border and is delivering an appropriate response to the adversary.
“There is a continuous effort in anti-terror operations, and explicit directives have been issued to the security forces to eradicate the threat and maintain peace and order in the region,” the Lt Governor remarked when questioned about the loss of two soldiers, including a captain, near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district on February 11. He was addressing the media during a sports event.
The two soldiers were tragically killed due to an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion, which is suspected to have been orchestrated by terrorists.
In separate incidents, gunfire from across the LoC led to injuries for two soldiers in the Poonch and Rajouri districts last week.
The Indian Army's response has reportedly resulted in casualties on the Pakistani side of the LoC.
The Army subsequently released a statement affirming that the ceasefire agreement established between the two nations on February 25, 2021, remains intact and that any violations by the Pakistani side are being addressed by field commanders.
The Lt Governor further noted that police and security forces are collaborating effectively in Jammu and Kashmir, operating under clear instructions to dismantle the terror ecosystem maintained by militants, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers.
Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah led two security review meetings concerning J&K, during which he emphasized a strict stance against infiltration and terrorism.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha also conducted two security meetings — one in Srinagar and another in Jammu. In these meetings, he instructed police and security forces to ensure that terrorists and their sympathizers feel the pressure of ongoing anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
