Jaipur, Jan 21 (NationPress) A family hailing from Pakistan has made their way to Jodhpur to joyously celebrate the wedding of their daughter, Meena Sodha, with grandeur and happiness.
The pre-wedding celebrations are currently underway, with the Bandoli ceremony scheduled for Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the 'Baraat' will arrive from Jaisalmer to enrich the festivities.
Meena’s father, Ganpat Singh Sodha, and mother, Dimple Bhati, expressed their delight over the wedding being hosted in India.
Ganpat Singh elaborated, "Our marriages must take place in India because many people in Pakistan belong to our gotra. As per our traditions, we cannot marry within the same gotra, so we travel to India on a visa for such occasions."
He also mentioned that his elder brother, Lal Singh Sodha, a businessman, relocated to India in 2013. Ganpat himself arrived in India in 2022 to arrange for Meena’s wedding.
The groom, who is a teacher, will join the celebrations in Jodhpur with the 'Baraat' on Wednesday.
The family feels reassured, knowing their daughter’s wedding is occurring in India, where she will be secure, as stated by Ganpat.
"I will conduct my daughter’s marriage here. The marriage procession will travel from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur. The groom is a teacher. Family members are ecstatic that their daughter’s wedding is taking place in India and that she will be safe," Ganpat remarked.
Simultaneously, the father of the bride pointed out the challenges faced while traveling from Pakistan to India.
"There are no direct train or flight options between the two nations. The Munabao train service is currently suspended, making travel more complex. Additionally, obtaining a visa and securing extensions can be quite challenging," he explained.
Meena, who traveled with her father to Jodhpur, has completed her Bachelor’s degree at Kamala Nehru Mahila Mahavidyalaya in the city. Sharing her perspective, she stated, "I don’t perceive much distinction between India and Pakistan. I fail to understand why individuals cultivate unnecessary fear towards one another."
Dimple Bhati, Meena’s mother, voiced her gratitude for India, saying, "The atmosphere here is delightful, and the people are warm. We have been commuting between India and Pakistan for the past decade, and our experiences have consistently been positive."
The family is thrilled to witness the wedding preparations proceeding seamlessly in Jodhpur, marking a notable and joyous chapter in their lives.
