New Delhi, March 24 (NationPress) Jagdambika Pal, the Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), has dismissed the protests against the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill as a deliberate political maneuver aimed at misleading minority communities. In contrast, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has criticized the Bill, labeling it as unconstitutional.

Addressing the ongoing protests, Jagdambika Pal raised questions about their underlying purpose.

“Why are they demonstrating when the government has not yet presented the amended Act? Initially, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board protested at Jantar Mantar, followed by demonstrations in Patna, and now in Vijayawada. This is a coordinated effort to mislead minorities and Muslims nationwide,” he remarked.

Pal emphasized that Waqf properties, which are intended for the support of the underprivileged, women, children, and orphans, are being poorly managed and illegally sold by their custodians.

“The government is working to amend the law so that the maximum advantages of Waqf properties benefit the needy. However, certain leaders like Imran Masood and Owaisi are misguiding the public. The Bill has not even been introduced in Parliament yet, yet they are already inciting protests, issuing threats, and attempting to replicate a situation similar to Shaheen Bagh,” he stated.

Furthermore, Pal rebuked the threats from opposition leaders, asserting, “Warnings like ‘Jagdambika Pal and his party will face repercussions’ are intolerable. Parliament has the authority to legislate, and such efforts to induce chaos and provoke violence must be curtailed.”

Conversely, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi vehemently opposed the Bill, describing it as a direct affront to constitutional rights.

“This is an unconstitutional Bill. It infringes upon Article 14 (Right to Equality), Article 25 (Freedom of Religion), and Article 26 (Freedom to manage religious affairs). This is precisely why protests are occurring against it,” he affirmed.
