Dehradun, Oct 27 (NationPress) The tireless initiatives of the BJP government led by Pushkar Singh Dhami to enhance tourism and religious travel in Uttarakhand are yielding impressive results, as over 23 crore visitors flocked to the scenic hill state in the past three years, according to data shared by the Tourism Department.

This remarkable uptick in tourism has positively impacted the livelihoods of homestay operators, hotel owners, roadside eateries, women’s self-help groups, and individuals working in the transport sector.

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the state administration, both tourism and pilgrimage in Uttarakhand are witnessing continuous growth.

Notably, tourism in Uttarakhand has evolved to become multi-faceted, with visitors now exploring not just major cities and popular hill stations, but also venturing into lesser-known destinations in more remote areas.

Moreover, the influx of not only domestic tourists but also international travelers has surged, fueling adventure pursuits such as rafting, trekking, bungee jumping, and mountaineering.

The tourism boom in Uttarakhand is directly benefiting thousands of residents, including hotel and restaurant owners, homestay providers, transport operators, and women’s self-help groups, among others.

Currently, over 6,000 homestay operators are reaping the rewards of the heightened tourism activities across the state.

Additionally, pilgrimage activities have seen a significant rise. This year alone, the number of pilgrims undertaking the revered Char Dham Yatra has soared to five million.

In the current year, more than 4,300 horse and mule operators have provided services along the trekking routes to Kedarnath and Yamunotri.

The state government is also actively promoting winter travel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to the sacred Adi Kailash has further invigorated both pilgrimage and tourism in the border region of Pithoragarh district.

Tourism serves as the backbone of Uttarakhand's economy, with the benefits of this sector directly reaching local communities.

Consequently, the Uttarakhand government is committed to sustaining tourism and pilgrimage activities throughout the year.

Prime Minister Modi's visits have significantly enhanced spirituality, pilgrimage, and tourism in Uttarakhand.

The Uttarakhand government continues to invest in tourism infrastructure, public-private collaborations, and digital innovations to enhance tourist experiences and improve regional accessibility.
