Chennai, April 12 (NationPress) AIADMK General Secretary and Tamil Nadu Leader of the Opposition, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, expressed his deep appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his backing of the AIADMK and for inviting the party back into the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

In a message shared on the social media platform X, Palaniswami remarked, “I convey my sincere thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his steadfast support to @AIADMKOfficial. We are privileged to rejoin the NDA, an alliance based on a common vision for the growth and prosperity of Tamil Nadu.”

He went on to say, “At this critical juncture, guided by the transformative leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi ji, the AIADMK aims to work hand in hand with NDA partners to fulfill the aspirations of the populace and contribute to his visionary plans for the nation.”

Discussing the party's future objectives, EPS emphasized, “United, we are dedicated to creating a better Tamil Nadu — free from dynastic politics, corruption, and misgovernance. The citizens of Tamil Nadu deserve a transparent, development-oriented government, and we are resolved to provide this in the forthcoming Assembly elections.”

This announcement follows Prime Minister Modi's official welcome to the AIADMK back into the NDA, expressing optimism regarding the revitalized alliance.

In his post on X, PM Modi stated, “Stronger together, united towards Tamil Nadu’s progress! Delighted that AIADMK joins the NDA family. Together with our other NDA allies, we will elevate Tamil Nadu to new heights of advancement and serve the state diligently. We will ensure a government that realizes the vision of the great MGR and Jayalalithaa Ji.”

The Prime Minister also launched a pointed critique of the ruling DMK, asserting, “For the sake of Tamil Nadu’s advancement and to safeguard the uniqueness of Tamil culture, it is imperative that the corrupt and divisive DMK is removed promptly — a task our alliance will guarantee.”

During his visit to Chennai on Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah officially announced the revival of the AIADMK-BJP alliance and declared that AIADMK would lead the NDA in Tamil Nadu.

He confirmed Palaniswami as the coalition’s Chief Ministerial candidate for the 2026 Assembly elections.

At a press conference, HM Shah characterized the renewed alliance as a “natural partnership,” noting that both parties share a common vision for Tamil Nadu’s development.

This reunion signifies a significant political shift, restoring ties that were broken in September 2023.

The alliance had collapsed following controversial statements made by then Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai, who had offended the AIADMK leadership by criticizing legendary Dravidian figures like C.N. Annadurai and J. Jayalalithaa.
