Hazaribagh, April 15 (NationPress) A petrol pump manager was fatally shot by unknown assailants while en route to a bank for a cash deposit in Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand, on Tuesday, according to police officials.
The incident took place in the Ichak police station jurisdiction, underscoring the worsening law enforcement conditions in the area.
The deceased has been identified as Shankar Kumar, who resided in Hazaribagh.
As per the police report, Shankar was in possession of cash collected over the previous four days from the petrol station situated at Salparni along the bustling Ranchi-Patna Road.
He departed the petrol pump around 11 a.m. on Tuesday when he was confronted by the attackers, who attempted to rob him.
Witnesses reported that when Shankar resisted their attempt, the assailants fired shots, inflicting fatal injuries that led to his immediate death. The perpetrators escaped with the stolen money.
