New Delhi, July 18 (NationPress) Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, on Friday, urged the youth of the nation to play an active role in crafting a Viksit Bharat by the year 2047, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Panch Pran' (five pledges) for the 'Amrit Kaal'.
During the inauguration of India's International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) Conference 2025, the minister called on the youth to dedicate themselves to transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.
Reflecting on the Prime Minister’s speech from August 15, 2022, he emphasized that the next 25 years, termed Amrit Kaal, will be pivotal as the country approaches the centenary of its independence.
He detailed that the foremost of the five pledges is the commitment to elevate India to a developed status. Encouraging the youth to envision their roles in the forthcoming decades, he asserted that they will be the key architects of this change.
“This ambition can only be achieved if we wholeheartedly embrace the other four pledges,” he conveyed to the audience.
Goyal pointed out that the second pledge involves abandoning the colonial mindset. Citing India's illustrious history as a global economic leader, he noted that years of foreign domination had diminished confidence and imposed restrictions. “We should not be hindered by the past but strive to meet international standards and set lofty aspirations,” he stated.
The third pledge emphasizes the importance of cherishing India’s heritage. According to Goyal, the nation’s history, culture, traditions, and values are vital as it moves towards development.
“Vikas bhi, virasat bhi – we need to pursue growth while honoring our heritage. Our diversity is our strength, and we should integrate our traditions into a unified effort for progress,” he added.
Discussing the fourth pledge, the minister asserted that the nation's unity and integrity must take precedence. Praising IIMUN for its initiative to engage youth from across India and beyond, Goyal remarked that this unity is the country’s greatest asset and should be cultivated at all levels. He highlighted that this collective spirit is crucial for the nation’s development journey.
The fifth pledge, he stated, represents the united resolve of 1.4 billion Indians to participate in nation-building. Goyal stressed that a developed India can only be realized when every citizen collaborates like a family, sharing responsibility and compassion. “We must show concern for the marginalized, support the underprivileged, and ensure that our progress is both inclusive and sustainable,” he reiterated.
The minister urged the youth to view nation-building as both a duty and a privilege, performing every task with commitment and devotion. He encouraged them to cultivate empathy and give their utmost in every endeavor.
Goyal also encouraged the youth to consider engaging in public service. Reflecting on the Prime Minister’s address on Independence Day 2024, he noted that the Prime Minister called on one lakh young men and women to enter politics and public service as agents of change. “There is a pressing need for capable individuals to contribute to policy-making with compassion, dedication, and a spirit of service,” he emphasized.
Goyal inspired the youth to take control of India’s future, stating, “Be the changemakers, the driving forces of tomorrow’s India. With collective determination, we can overcome every challenge and elevate our nation to new heights.”
