Dhamtari, July 24 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) is initiating a significant change for the Kamar tribe in Chhattisgarh's Dhamtari district, as durable homes replace the vulnerable huts that previously characterized the forest settlements of Masandabra in the Nagari block.
Launched by the Central government on November 15, 2023, this initiative aims to construct permanent residences for the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), striving to enhance their socio-economic conditions and bridge the developmental divide in isolated tribal areas.
For the Kamar community, which has traditionally lived in forest huts, this signifies a remarkable shift.
Beneficiaries of the program shared their happiness and appreciation towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing gratitude for making their longstanding aspiration of possessing a pucca house a reality.
"The Central government has made efforts to advance the Kamar families. I thank PM Modi for this," stated a local while communicating with IANS.
Another resident expressed, "Today we have a house because of the PM-JANMAN Yojana. I am profoundly thankful to the PM for this."
Similarly, another recipient remarked, "We are receiving pucca houses due to the PM-JANMAN Yojana initiated by the Prime Minister. We are extremely pleased and appreciate the government for this."
The aspiration for a permanent residence had always seemed unattainable for economically disadvantaged families. Now, under PM-JANMAN, that aspiration is materializing for the Kamar community.
The CEO of District Panchayat Nagari, Rohit, confirmed that 36 families in Masandabra have been sanctioned housing under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Awas Nirman.
"The construction of 26 houses is complete, and work on 10 additional houses is ongoing," he stated.
Rohit elaborated that each house is being constructed with a financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh, along with 90 days of wages under the MGNREGA scheme.
He also mentioned forthcoming developments: "The pipeline will be expanded for the construction of sheds and gardens."
The PM-JANMAN Yojana serves as a beacon of hope for PVTG communities such as the Kamars, providing them with not just housing, but also dignity and opportunities.
