Muzaffarpur, June 24 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is effecting a remarkable and transformative shift in the lives of the underprivileged and economically disadvantaged communities throughout the nation, particularly those without their own homes. Numerous individuals in Bihar's Muzaffarpur are reaping the benefits of this initiative.
One such individual is Sudhir Kumar Chakraborty, a resident of Muzaffarpur who has now become the proud owner of a solid house, enabling him to lead a life filled with dignity. He and his family express their heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister.
In an interview with IANS, Sudhir and his wife Mithu Chakraborty discussed the significant transformation in their lives and conveyed their appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the support they received in constructing their own home through the PMAY.
The construction of their house commenced in 2016 and reached completion in 2017. Prior to this, they were residing in a dilapidated asbestos structure.
“Our previous home would flood with water, leaving us awake at night. The people in our neighborhood viewed us differently. With the assistance from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, all our issues have been resolved. Now we can lead a life of respect,” they remarked.
Furthermore, Sudhir Chakraborty noted that they have not only acquired a house but also benefit from gas connections under the Ujjwala Yojana, free food grains, and the Ayushman Bharat card, which allows them to avail treatment worth up to Rs 5 lakh.
“Our family consists of four members, and all of us hold Ayushman cards, enabling us to receive treatment valued at Rs 5 lakh without any charges,” he stated.
Expressing his gratitude towards the government, he said, “No previous Prime Minister has cared for the poor as much as this one. We are immensely thankful and hope for such leadership to continue.”
According to official reports, the Union Rural Development Ministry has allocated 5.20 lakh houses in Bihar under this scheme for the financial year 2025-26.
