Begusarai (Bihar), April 14 (NationPress) In the district of Begusarai, Bihar, aspirations are being realized - brick by brick - with the help of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). In the rural regions of Matihani block, those benefiting from the scheme are witnessing a transformation that transcends mere housing; it signifies a newfound sense of dignity, safety, and overall quality of life.

Residents of Shankarpur Bakhadda, including Ramsakhi Devi, Shiv Shankar Das, Anusuiya Devi, and Saurabh Kumari, have expressed their sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating a program that has profoundly altered their lives. These families, previously residing in fragile huts made of straw and mud, now proudly possess pucca houses that offer protection, security, and a renewed sense of pride.

IANS had the opportunity to speak with several beneficiaries of the initiative.

Ramsakhi Devi, one of the recipients, remarked: "Previously, we lived in thatched homes that would leak during rains and provided minimal protection in winter. We constantly feared snakes and scorpions. However, with PMAY, we received financial support to construct a permanent home. Our housing struggles are now over."

Shiv Shankar Das added: "I didn’t own a pucca house before. Life was filled with challenges. But thanks to this scheme, I now have a roof over my head that won’t collapse in the rain. It’s a dream realized."

Anusuiya Devi shared that her family once depended on plastic sheets for shelter.

"But PM Modi provided us with a pucca house. Now, we live without fear or discomfort. I am genuinely grateful."

Saurabh Kumari, another beneficiary, stated, “We used to dwell in a mud house, constantly worried about snake or scorpion bites. Today, those fears have vanished.”

Initiated in 2015, the PMAY seeks to deliver ‘Housing for All’ by providing central assistance for the construction of homes for eligible families. With a goal of 1.12 crore homes, the scheme represents more than just a policy—it is a lifeline.

For countless individuals in Begusarai and beyond, PMAY symbolizes not merely a government initiative but a promise fulfilled, a secured future, and a new beginning.
