Dehradun, July 13 (NationPress) The Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) is significantly transforming the lives of farmers in the Ramnagar area of Nainital district. By utilizing this public welfare initiative, farmers are becoming more financially stable and self-sufficient.
Numerous farmers shared their experiences with IANS, illustrating the profound impact this scheme has had on their lives. Many reported using the financial aid to purchase fertilizers and seeds, addressing various needs related to their livelihoods.
They expressed their appreciation for the Modi administration for introducing such a farmer-centric scheme.
Naresh Chandra Dholakhandi, the Block in-charge of Ramnagar, informed IANS that there are currently 6,500 farmers benefiting from the PM-KISAN initiative in the district.
He also noted that an additional 500 farmers might soon be added to the PM-KISAN beneficiary list. However, many of them are unable to receive their funds due to incomplete Aadhaar and other KYC documentation. Once these farmers finalize their paperwork, they will start receiving benefits.
“The block administration is actively encouraging farmers to update their documents to ensure no eligible farmer misses out on this benefit,” he stated.
One beneficiary, Ashok Kumar, mentioned that the funds are directly credited to their bank accounts under the scheme, which aids them in timely crop sowing.
Another two beneficiaries, Sunil Kumar and Surendra Kumar, confirmed that they receive Rs 2,000 every three months, providing essential financial assistance for their farming activities.
It’s important to note that the PM-KISAN scheme was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2019 to address the financial requirements of land-holding farmers. Under this initiative, a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is disbursed in three equal installments into farmers' Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
