New Delhi, Aug 2 (NationPress) As Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, farmers in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu expressed their heartfelt appreciation, stating that the initiative has notably aided them in purchasing diesel for their tractors and covering wages for laborers.
The PM-KISAN scheme has emerged as a vital lifeline for farmers during challenging periods.
In the Dharwad district of Karnataka, farmers noted the positive influence of the PM-KISAN initiative on their agricultural practices. The funds not only facilitate the purchase of seeds and fertilizers but also assist in managing household expenses, including education fees for their children.
Launched by the government of PM Modi, the scheme aims to provide financial support to small and marginal farmers nationwide. Under PM-KISAN, qualifying farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually in three equal installments directly deposited into their bank accounts.
In conversations with IANS, farmers shared how the scheme has transformed their lives.
Nagappa Ganiger, a farmer from Dharwad, remarked, "The PM-KISAN scheme has provided tremendous support during difficult times. It allows me to buy diesel for my tractors and ensures timely payment of labor wages. To date, I have received 20 installments without any issues. I am grateful to Prime Minister Modi."
Another farmer, Basavaraj Gunjal, added, "With the goal of doubling farmers' income, Prime Minister Modi has introduced numerous farmer-centric initiatives. The annual support of Rs 6,000 through PM-KISAN has been genuinely beneficial. On behalf of all farmers, I extend my heartfelt thanks to him."
In Tamil Nadu’s Karur district, farmers celebrated the release of the 20th installment of Rs 2,000, emphasizing how the direct cash transfer has enhanced transparency and eliminated middlemen from the process.
Arul Murugan, a local farmer, stated, “The funds credited directly to our bank accounts without intermediaries have been incredibly advantageous. We are thankful to the Prime Minister for this initiative that offers timely assistance.”
The primary aim of the scheme is to provide income support to small and marginal farming households owning cultivable land. With escalating input costs, farmers mentioned that this steady income is crucial for managing essential farming expenditures.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects valued at around Rs 2,200 crore in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
During his visit to his parliamentary constituency, he also released the 20th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme, transferring Rs 21,000 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 9.7 crore farmers across the nation.
Additionally, he distributed more than 7,400 assistive aids to 'divyangjan' and elderly beneficiaries.
Beginning his speech with "Om Namah Parvati Pataye, Har Har Mahadev", PM Modi reflected, “Today, I am here in Kashi for the first time since 'Operation Sindoor'. On April 22, during the Pahalgam terror attack, 26 innocent lives were tragically lost. The sorrow of those children and women has deeply affected me.”
He continued, “At that moment, I prayed to Baba Vishwanath for strength for the people to endure their suffering. I pledged to my daughters that I would avenge their 'Sindoor', and today, with Mahadev’s blessings, I have fulfilled that promise. I dedicate the success of 'Operation Sindoor' at the feet of Mahadev.”
