Krishnagiri (Tamil Nadu), March 19 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), a key initiative of the Modi administration, was introduced in 2019 to support and empower farmers through financial assistance. Farmers nationwide are utilizing this support to cover both agricultural and personal expenses.

Nagaraj, a farmer from Tamil Nadu, shared his insights with IANS on how this program has positively impacted him and his neighbors.

Nagaraj, who resides in Singarapettai in Krishnagiri district, mentioned that the annual Rs 6,000 provided through PM-KISAN is vital for many, aiding in the purchase of pesticides and fertilizers.

“It also assists us in fulfilling our family’s essential needs such as food and medicines during difficult times,” he explained.

“My family has been engaged in agriculture for generations. My grandfather, grandmother, and parents were all farmers,” he continued.

He expressed gratitude on behalf of many villagers for Prime Minister Modi’s initiative, which supports them in various ways and equips them to face unexpected challenges.

On another note, the most recent installment of the PM-KISAN program was unveiled by PM Modi on February 24 in Bhagalpur, Bihar. This occasion benefited over 9.8 crore farmers, including 2.41 crore female farmers, through the release of the 19th installment. A significant amount exceeding Rs 22,000 crore was directly credited into the bank accounts of more than 9.8 crore farmers via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), highlighting the government's dedication to farmer welfare and agricultural development.

It is important to note that the PM-KISAN initiative, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2019, aims to address the financial requirements of land-owning farmers. Under this scheme, a financial aid of Rs 6,000 per year is distributed in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 into farmers' Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
