New Delhi, Feb 24 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed that the nation is proud of the Annadatas and extended his congratulations to farmers nationwide on the momentous occasion of the sixth anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) initiative.

Reaffirming the government’s dedication to farmer welfare, he underscored that this program has ushered in respect, prosperity, and new strength to India’s agricultural community.

This announcement precedes the Prime Minister's upcoming visit to Bhagalpur district in Bihar, where he plans to distribute over Rs 22,000 crore as part of the 19th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme.

The financial assistance, which is transferred directly through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) method, seeks to eradicate the involvement of middlemen and guarantee that farmers receive their rightful benefits promptly.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister stated, “We are proud of our Annadatas,” while highlighting various government schemes aimed at enhancing farmers' livelihoods.

“Over the last decade, our efforts have significantly advanced the agricultural sector in the nation. The financial support provided to millions of small farmers has improved their market access. Additionally, agricultural costs have decreased, and their incomes have risen,” he added in another post.

“Congratulations to our farmer brothers and sisters across the nation on the successful completion of 6 years of PM-Kisan. It fills me with great satisfaction and pride that approximately three and a half lakh crore rupees have been credited to their accounts. This initiative is bringing respect, prosperity, and new strength to our food producers,” he remarked.

Initiated in 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme was established to offer financial support to farmers, ensuring stability and boosting crop production. Over time, this program has been pivotal in lowering agricultural costs and enhancing the economic conditions for farmers.

Besides distributing PM-KISAN funds, PM Modi is also set to launch several initiatives aimed at fortifying Bihar’s agricultural, dairy, and rural economy. As part of these efforts, the government has raised the loan ceiling under the Kisan Credit Card scheme from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, promoting better financial access for farmers.

In a significant boost to the dairy industry, a state-of-the-art dairy facility will be constructed in Barauni with an investment of Rs 113.27 crore. With a processing capability of two lakh litres per day, this plant is anticipated to enhance milk production and processing in the area.

To further improve cattle breeding and dairy productivity, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Motihari Regional Centre of Excellence (CoE) under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission with an investment of Rs 33.80 crore.

Additionally, he will celebrate a significant achievement by launching the 10,000th Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO), aimed at empowering farmers through collective bargaining and improved market access. Since the inception of the Rs 6,865 crore FPO scheme in 2020, Rs 254.4 crore in equity grants has been allocated to 4,761 FPOs, and Rs 453 crore in credit guarantees has been provided to 1,900 FPOs.

Alongside agricultural initiatives, PM Modi will inaugurate key infrastructure projects in Bihar. The Warisaliganj-Nawada-Tilaiya Rail Doubling Project, developed at a cost of Rs 526 crore, will enhance rail connectivity in the region. Another significant project, the Ismailpur-Rafiganj road-over-bridge, constructed at a cost of Rs 47 crore, aims to alleviate traffic congestion and promote smoother transportation.

These initiatives exemplify the government’s commitment to empowering farmers, advancing the dairy and cattle farming sectors, and improving Bihar’s infrastructure. With a focus on financial support, modern agricultural techniques, and enhanced connectivity, the Centre continues to bolster rural development and economic growth across the nation.
