Jammu, Aug 2 (NationPress) Farmers throughout Jammu and Kashmir expressed their heartfelt appreciation on Saturday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the distribution of the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.

The farmers deemed this instalment a crucial lifeline, particularly as they gear up for the current agricultural season.

In Udhampur district, the Agriculture Department held a special event to celebrate the occasion, aligning with the national launch in Varanasi. A substantial turnout of farmers marked the event.

The Chief Agriculture Officer reported that Rs 10.90 crore was transferred to 54,527 eligible farmers in the district through the direct benefit transfer (DBT) method.

"This scheme has transformed our lives. Previously, we struggled to purchase seeds and often had to borrow money. Now, we no longer need to rely on others. The funds are deposited directly into our bank accounts. I urge the Modi government to maintain this scheme indefinitely," shared Mahesh Singh, a farmer from Udhampur.

Another farmer from Udhampur, Haji Gulam Rasool, remarked, "This scheme empowers us to be self-sufficient. In the past, we often lacked enough funds to buy seeds. PM Modi is rendering a significant service to the farming community."

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, qualifying farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually, distributed in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each. The 20th instalment, covering April to July 2025, has provided significant relief to millions of farmers nationwide, especially in light of monsoon-related adversity and the upcoming cropping season.

Farmers in Jammu shared similar feelings. Like their peers across the nation, they received the Rs 2,000 instalment directly in their bank accounts. Local farmers emphasized that this financial aid was both timely and essential.

"This instalment is incredibly beneficial during this season," mentioned Sanjay, a farmer from the Jammu region.

Another farmer, Darshan Lal Sharma, added, "We're thrilled. The funds are directly credited to our accounts without delays or intermediaries. It's a transparent and reliable system. I thank PM Modi for considering our needs."

Tajinder Singh highlighted the scheme's significance, stating, "It's a substantial advancement for small farmers like us. We now receive direct financial support from the government. PM-KISAN is revolutionary. It's more than a scheme; it's a vital support system for millions who rely on agriculture."

The PM-KISAN digital disbursement model guarantees transparency and minimizes fund leakage. With each payment, the scheme has increasingly become a lifeline for small and marginal farmers throughout the country.

In Varanasi, PM Modi also inaugurated and laid the groundwork for several development projects valued at around Rs 2,200 crore, focusing on infrastructure, connectivity, and social welfare initiatives to enhance regional growth.

During the same event, PM Modi released the 20th instalment of PM-KISAN, transferring Rs 21,000 crore to over 9.7 crore farmers across India. He also distributed more than 7,400 assistive aids to divyangjan and elderly beneficiaries, showcasing the government's inclusive welfare strategy.

In his speech, the Prime Minister reiterated his dedication to the welfare of farmers.

"A robust India relies on the strength of its farmers. The PM-KISAN scheme is our method of recognizing their dedication and ensuring they receive the necessary support," he stated.
