New Delhi, March 3 (NationPress) Envoys from various nations commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts in fostering unity and honoring India's rich cultural legacy by participating in the 25th edition of Jahan-e-Khusrau.
On Friday, PM Modi graced the event dedicated to the esteemed Sufi poet and scholar Amir Khusrau, where he conveyed early greetings for Ramzan and praised Sufi traditions for their messages of inclusiveness and peace.
He emphasized the pivotal role of Sufi saints in shaping the unique identity of India through their acceptance of diversity.
Following a captivating performance by Sufi artists, he noted that their melodies embody a collective cultural heritage, a tradition celebrated together for generations.
In conversations with IANS, various ambassadors in India, including those from Peru, Ecuador, El Salvador, and Guatemala, expressed their admiration for PM Modi's involvement in the festival.
Peru's ambassador, Javier Paulinich, remarked, "I truly appreciate this initiative as the Prime Minister is supporting diverse cultural expressions within India, which greatly benefits the nation."
Highlighting the importance of music, Ecuador's Ambassador Fernando Bucheli stated, "This sends a powerful message that music brings people together and promotes tolerance. In this country, home to multiple religions, I have enjoyed visiting various temples since my arrival."
He further added, "I also hold great respect for the Sikh faith. My last visit was to the Krishna temple, and I have explored many Muslim places of worship. Promoting music in this way serves to unite people."
Ambassador of El Salvador, Guillermo Rubio Funes, highlighted the significance of the Prime Minister's presence at the festival, stating, "His attendance is crucial as it supports this festival and all artists, particularly the Sufi musicians. For them, his attendance holds great meaning."
Guatemala's Ambassador Omar Lisandro Castaneda Solares described PM Modi's participation as a privilege.
"For many of us fortunate enough to meet him during the festival, it was truly an unforgettable experience," he shared with IANS.
During his speech, PM Modi underscored the pluralistic essence of Sufi traditions, pointing out that Sufi saints recited Quranic verses while also appreciating the Vedas.
Throughout the festival, PM Modi acknowledged the contributions of numerous Sufi saints and poets, including Nizamuddin Auliya, Rumi, Raskhan, and Amir Khusrau, for their lasting messages of love and harmony.
