Amaravati, Oct 28 (NationPress) With the severe cyclone Montha approaching the Andhra Pradesh coastline in the Bay of Bengal, the state government has rolled out a real-time voice alert system across its coastal districts.

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) announced on Tuesday that following Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's initiative to disseminate cyclone information in various formats, these voice alerts were launched on a pilot basis in 26 coastal villages.

This real-time voice alert system is designed to deliver cyclone warnings swiftly in these areas.

Even during power outages, a 360-degree horn speaker system ensures that alerts can be heard clearly within a one-kilometre radius. According to APSDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain, this system will soon be extended to additional villages.

He emphasized that the state government is leading the way in leveraging technology for awareness broadcasting.

The public is being kept informed through various channels, including messages, interactive voice response calls, tom-toms, and local officials.

Ministers and high-ranking officials are closely monitoring the cyclone's progress in real-time from the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) center at the State Secretariat.

Chief Minister Naidu is personally visiting the RTGS war room to oversee the situation, stating that they are evaluating the cyclone's impact on an hourly basis. He has instructed officials to consistently provide accurate information to keep the public informed.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm Montha over the west-central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm and was located at 0530 hrs IST on Tuesday, approximately 190 km south-southeast of Machilipatnam, 270 km south-southeast of Kakinada, and 340 km south-southwest of Visakhapatnam.
