Jhalawar, July 25 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his profound sorrow over the unfortunate incident that occurred at a school in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, and extended his prayers for the swift recovery of those injured.
In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister's Office conveyed that PM Modi is keeping the affected students and their families in his thoughts.
“The incident at a school in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, is tragic and deeply saddening. My thoughts are with the affected students and their families during this challenging time. I am praying for the quick recovery of the injured. Authorities are offering all possible support to those impacted,” the PMO stated on X. PM Modi is presently in the Maldives.
At least four children lost their lives, and many were trapped after the collapse of a government school building in Jhalawar district. This heart-wrenching event took place in Piplodi village, located in the Manoharthana area of the district, where the roof of the school building gave way.
Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has directed officials to ensure adequate medical care for the injured children. In a message on his social media account X, he expressed his sorrow, stating, “The tragic event resulting from the collapse of a school roof in Piplodi, Jhalawar, is extremely painful and heartbreaking. Instructions have been issued to the relevant authorities to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured children.”
Offering condolences to the grieving families, he added, “May God grant eternal peace to the departed souls and provide strength to the bereaved families to cope with this immense loss.”
State Education Minister Madan Dilawar has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. “I have issued stringent orders to ensure the best medical care for the students. Additionally, I am directing an inquiry to determine why this tragic incident occurred. District officials have reached the scene,” he stated.
The incident transpired at the Government Higher Primary School, which was housed in an old and dilapidated building. The collapse occurred during school hours, creating chaos and panic.
Eyewitnesses and local residents reported that over 50 students were in the classrooms when the roof suddenly caved in due to the continuous heavy rainfall experienced in recent days. The noise of the collapse was immediately followed by screams and confusion as dust and debris filled the area. Without delay, villagers and school personnel commenced rescue operations, manually clearing debris to rescue the trapped children.
Initially, the injured students were transported to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Manoharthana via private vehicles.
