Navi Mumbai, Oct 8 (NationPress) Following the inauguration of the initial phase of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged citizens to embrace Swadeshi to enhance the nation's strength and that of its people.
“Embrace Swadeshi. Say it with pride: Swadeshi should resonate as the guiding principle for everyone and the marketplace. When individuals opt for Swadeshi products and share them as gifts, the funds will circulate back into the economy, fostering growth and job creation,” he remarked.
He also remarked that the GST reforms have significantly benefited the populace and the nation, citing the recent Navaratri festivities where various goods saw remarkable sales.
PM Modi highlighted that the youth and employment have remained central to the BJP-led government's agenda, asserting that the government is committed to the Viksit Bharat initiative.
He criticized the past Congress-led UPA government for failing to respond decisively against Pakistan after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, questioning what influenced their decisions during that time. PM Modi condemned the previous UPA administration, claiming that their ineffective policies allowed terrorists to thrive and continue their operations.
“This not only weakened the nation but also jeopardized national security. In contrast, for the BJP-led government, the safety of the nation is a top priority. This commitment was evident during Operation Sindoor, where a strong response was given to Pakistan,” he stated.
The Prime Minister also took aim at the former Maha Vikas Aghadi government for hindering various development initiatives, which he said had detrimental economic effects.
He expressed that the launch of Phase 1 of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) alongside other connectivity projects will bolster the city’s status as a global center for growth and opportunity. He further mentioned that the lengthy wait for a second airport in Mumbai has concluded with today's inauguration of NMIA's first phase.
“With this, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region is now equipped with its second major international airport, enhancing commerce and connectivity. The final phase of the Mumbai Metro Line-3 will also be inaugurated. We are dedicated to improving Mumbai’s infrastructure and enhancing the ‘Ease of Living’ for its vibrant residents,” he added.
“NMIA stands as a shining example of culture and prosperity, reflecting the vision of Viksit Bharat. Farmers will gain access to markets in Europe and Gulf countries, allowing them to export their produce globally. This will benefit small and medium enterprises, increase revenue, and attract new industries,” he elaborated.
He also paid tribute to Loknete DB Patil for his dedicated service to the public and his advocacy for farmers, stating that his commitment is an inspiration for many. PM Modi affirmed that India has emerged as a significant player in the aviation industry and aims to establish the country as a MRO hub.
Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated the final phase of the Mumbai Metro 3 line, launched the Mumbai One App, and the Chief Minister's Short-Term Employability Programme (STEP), designed to provide industry-focused and employment-oriented training to the youth in Maharashtra.
