Gandhinagar, March 4 (NationPress) During his three-day trip to Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi toured Vantara – a distinguished wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation center located in Jamnagar.
Vantara is renowned for being home to over 1.5 lakh rescued and endangered animals, currently sheltering more than 2,000 species.
While visiting this expansive animal rehabilitation center, PM Modi explored various facilities and had the opportunity to closely interact with multiple species of animals.
At the wildlife hospital in Vantara, he received insights about an extensive range of veterinary services that include MRI, CT scans, and ICUs. The hospital features numerous departments, such as Wildlife Anesthesia, Cardiology, Nephrology, Endoscopy, Dentistry, and Internal Medicine.
In a video, PM Modi was seen playing with and feeding various animal species, including Asiatic Lion cubs, a White Lion cub, a Clouded Leopard cub—a rare and endangered species—and a Caracal cub.
The White Lion cub fed by PM Modi was born at the center after its mother was rescued and brought to Vantara for care.
Once abundant in India, Caracals are becoming increasingly rare. They are part of a breeding program at Vantara aimed at their preservation and subsequent release into the wild.
PM Modi also visited the MRI room at the hospital, where he observed an Asiatic Lion undergoing an MRI scan. He toured the Operation Theatre, where a Leopard was undergoing a life-saving surgery after being injured by a vehicle on the highway.
The rescued animals are housed in enclosures designed to closely mimic their natural habitats.
The Prime Minister interacted closely with several fierce animals, including a Golden Tiger, four Snow Tigers rescued from a circus, a White Lion, and a Snow Leopard.
He also came face to face with Chimpanzees, played with Orangutans previously kept in overcrowded facilities, and interacted with Hippopotamuses and crocodiles, while walking among Zebras and feeding a Giraffe and a Rhino calf.
Additionally, he received a brief tour of the hydrotherapy pools designed for rehabilitating elephants suffering from arthritis and foot problems.
He also observed the operations of the largest elephant hospital in the world, interacting with doctors and staff who serve as the guardians of the various facilities at the center.
