New Delhi, Sep 10 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a telephone dialogue with the Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, conveying his profound concern regarding the recent assaults in Doha.

“I spoke with Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani and expressed my deep concerns about the attacks in Doha. India condemns any breach of the sovereignty of our allied State of Qatar. We advocate for resolving issues through dialogue and diplomacy, aiming to prevent escalation. India firmly supports peace and stability in the region while standing against terrorism in all forms,” PM Modi shared on X following the call.

This conversation occurred subsequent to the Israeli strikes in Doha on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) indicated that PM Modi acknowledged Qatar's role in fostering regional peace and stability, especially its mediation in Gaza to secure a ceasefire and the release of hostages.

“Sheikh Tamim expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for showing solidarity with the Qatari people and State. Both leaders voiced satisfaction with the ongoing advancements in the India-Qatar Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to enhance bilateral cooperation across various shared interests. They agreed to maintain close communication,” the PMO statement detailed.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reiterated India’s deep concern regarding the situation and its implications for regional security.

“We strongly encourage restraint and diplomacy to ensure that peace and security in the region are not compromised,” the MEA stated following the Israeli strikes.

Earlier this year, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani visited India on a State Visit in February, following an invitation from Prime Minister Modi. His delegation included key ministers, officials, and business leaders, marking the Amir's second State Visit to India.

During their discussions, both leaders reflected on the historic trade connections, strong people-to-people relationships, and robust bilateral ties. They expressed a desire to further enhance and deepen the multifaceted connections between their nations, celebrating the signing of the ‘Agreement on the Establishment of Bilateral Strategic Partnership’.
