New Delhi, Feb 17 (NationPress) In a significant gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Air Force Station in Palam on Monday evening.
The leaders embraced warmly, reflecting the strong ties between their nations.
"A special gesture for a special friend! PM Narendra Modi greeted HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of Qatar, upon his arrival in New Delhi for his second State visit to India. This visit is set to further enhance the India-Qatar partnership," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) shared on X.
Sheikh Tamim's two-day State Visit to India marks his second since March 2015 and comes at the invitation of PM Modi.
The Amir is joined by a high-level delegation, which includes ministers, senior officials, and business representatives.
On Tuesday, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani will receive a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan before engaging in discussions with PM Modi concerning various aspects of bilateral relations at the Hyderabad House.
Additionally, he will meet President Droupadi Murmu, who will also host a banquet in his honor.
According to a statement from the MEA prior to the Amir's arrival, "India and Qatar share deep-rooted historical ties characterized by friendship, trust, and mutual respect. Recently, the relationship between the two countries has grown stronger in trade, investment, energy, technology, culture, and people-to-people interactions."
It was also noted, "The Indian community in Qatar represents the largest expatriate group in the country and is respected for its contribution to Qatar's development. The Amir's visit is expected to propel our multifaceted partnership further."
