New Delhi, Feb 17 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar expressed confidence on Monday that discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, will enhance the solid friendship between India and Qatar.
“I am honored to meet H.H. @TamimBinHamad, Amir of Qatar, during his arrival in New Delhi for a State Visit. I value his insights on promoting our cooperation across multiple sectors. I am confident that his discussions with PM @narendramodi tomorrow will strengthen our close ties of friendship,” EAM Jaishankar shared on X.
Previously, PM Modi welcomed the Qatar Amir at the Air Force Station in Palam. The embrace shared between the two leaders illustrated the unique bond between their nations.
“A special gesture for a special friend! PM Narendra Modi warmly welcomed HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, at the airport as he arrived in New Delhi for his second State Visit to India. This visit is set to further solidify the India-Qatar partnership,” noted the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on X.
Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani is on a two-day State Visit to India, his second since March 2015, at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi.
The Amir is joined by a high-level delegation that includes ministers, senior officials, and a business team.
On Tuesday, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani will receive a ceremonial reception at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan before engaging in discussions with PM Modi regarding various elements of bilateral relations at the Hyderabad House.
During his visit, he will also converse with President Droupadi Murmu, who will host a banquet in his honor.
“India and Qatar share deep-rooted historical bonds of friendship, trust, and mutual respect. In recent years, the relationship encompassing trade, investment, energy, technology, culture, and people-to-people interactions has only grown stronger,” stated the MEA ahead of the Amir's arrival in India.
“The Indian community in Qatar represents the largest expatriate group in the nation and is recognized for its significant contributions to Qatar's progress and development. His Highness the Amir's visit is expected to further propel our expanding multifaceted partnership,” it added.
