New Delhi, March 22 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has marked a significant achievement in Indian politics by becoming the longest-serving leader of an elected government in the nation.

With this accomplishment, PM Modi has now outlasted Pawan Kumar Chamling, who held the position of Chief Minister of Sikkim for 8,930 days. Modi has completed 8,931 days in governmental leadership, which includes his time as Chief Minister of Gujarat and his ongoing tenure as Prime Minister, thus entering his 25th year in a leadership position.

This achievement is viewed as a rare and noteworthy milestone, highlighting decades of continuous public service and top-level political leadership.

Throughout his career, PM Modi has set several impressive records, including being the longest-serving Chief Minister of Gujarat and the Prime Minister with the most extensive prior experience as a Chief Minister.

He is also the first Prime Minister of India born after Independence and has won three consecutive Lok Sabha elections in 2014, 2019, and 2024, reinforcing his political endurance and consistent public support.

Narendra Modi began his journey as Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, and served until May 21, 2014, overseeing the state for over 13 years before transitioning to national politics.

He was inaugurated as the 14th Prime Minister of India on May 26, 2014, becoming the first non-Congress leader to achieve a full majority in the Lok Sabha. Subsequently, he became the first non-Congress Prime Minister to complete two full terms in office and return for a third consecutive term.

This year, PM Modi has surpassed several other notable milestones, particularly in the realm of digital engagement.

Earlier this month, he reached 30 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, solidifying his status as one of the most-followed global leaders on the platform.

Currently, he leads among both current and former heads of government regarding subscriber numbers, significantly outpacing other prominent political figures worldwide.

In February, PM Modi also achieved 100 million followers on Instagram, becoming the first serving world leader and politician to reach this milestone on the platform.

Since joining Instagram in 2014, his account has evolved into one of the most active and widely followed among global leaders, reflecting a consistent outreach strategy aimed at engaging both Indian and international audiences. He now has 101 million followers on the social media site.

On X, PM Modi boasts 106.4 million followers.
