Jaipur, Jan 18 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed 65 lakh property cards to beneficiaries under the Svamitva Yojana via video conferencing. This pioneering initiative aims to provide villagers with legal ownership of their properties, enhancing economic stability and social empowerment.
During the event, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma commended the initiative, describing it as a significant move towards Gram Swaraj (village self-governance) and empowerment. He emphasized that the scheme's execution is being carried out with precision and transparency, enabling villagers to secure their property rights.
At the event, the Prime Minister engaged with a beneficiary from Sri Ganganagar, who articulated how the scheme has positively transformed rural life. PM Modi stressed that the digital documentation of leases under the initiative fosters transparency and bolsters prosperity in rural regions.
One beneficiary expressed heartfelt appreciation, stating: "For someone like me, becoming a landowner is a dream realized. PM Modi has done a remarkable job."
Another beneficiary remarked: "Modi ji understands our challenges because he too emerged from humble beginnings. This ownership scheme is extraordinary. For 50 years, I had no claim to my land, and disputes with villagers were common. However, after receiving the ownership card, all conflicts have ceased."
Rao Rajendra Singh, Member of Parliament, noted: "Ownership cards not only affirm rightful land ownership but also enhance confidence and morale. Beneficiaries can utilize this asset for social and economic advancement."
Earlier, PM Modi discussed the scheme, pointing out that drone surveys have been conducted in nearly half of India’s six lakh villages. He acknowledged that many beneficiaries, including small and medium-sized farming families, have leveraged these legal property documents to procure bank loans and initiate small enterprises, promoting rural entrepreneurship.
The Prime Minister highlighted that marginalized communities—Dalits, backward classes, and tribal families—have been disproportionately affected by illegal land encroachments and prolonged legal disputes. With legal ownership, these families are now liberated from such predicaments.
He further projected that the comprehensive application of the Svamitva Yojana across all villages could unleash economic activities valued at over Rs 100 lakh crore, significantly benefiting the national economy.
PM Modi also underscored how the Svamitva Yojana facilitates village development planning by providing accurate maps and data, thereby mitigating inefficiencies caused by inadequate planning. "Our government is devoted to achieving Gram Swaraj and enhancing village development at the grassroots level," he asserted.
