PM Modi to Lead E-Distribution of 58 Lakh Property Cards Across 50,000 Villages

New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will oversee the e-distribution of SVAMITVA property cards on Friday (December 27), signifying a crucial achievement in India’s rural empowerment and governance journey, as stated by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj on Thursday.

The occasion will feature the distribution of 58 lakh SVAMITVA Property Cards across around 50,000 villages in 10 states: Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and two Union Territories – Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

“This event will also signify a pivotal achievement of surpassing two crore property cards prepared and distributed under the SVAMITVA scheme and distributing over 58 lakh property cards in a single day,” the statement noted.

During this event, the Prime Minister will engage with selected beneficiaries through video conferencing and deliver a nationwide address.

Present at the event will be Union Minister of Panchayati Raj Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Minister of State for Panchayati Raj S.P. Singh Baghel, and Secretary of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj Vivek Bharadwaj. Several Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, senior officials, panchayat representatives, and stakeholders will also attend virtually. Approximately 13 Union Ministers will participate in person from designated locations across the nation to supervise the regional distribution of property cards.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, in collaboration with the states and union territories, will enhance outreach and awareness regarding the SVAMITVA Scheme and other flagship initiatives by organizing orientation programs at around 20,000 locations nationwide on Friday.

Under the scheme, drone mapping and surveys have been conducted in 3.17 lakh villages, resulting in the preparation of over 2.19 crore property cards across 1.49 lakh villages.

Digitally validated property records have reinforced local governance and improved Gram Panchayat Development Plans. Property cards have also enabled access to institutional credit, empowering rural citizens.

Furthermore, legal ownership of properties has granted women greater financial and social security.

Accurate mapping has significantly minimized property disputes.

Launched on April 24, 2020 (on National Panchayati Raj Day) by the Prime Minister, the SVAMITVA Scheme aims to provide a “Record of Rights” to property owners in rural areas through drone and GIS technology. The SVAMITVA Scheme exemplifies a whole-of-government approach, promoting inter-departmental synergy to drive financial inclusion, rural stability, and economic growth. It has empowered property owners and facilitated improved infrastructure planning, financial stability, and sustainable development in rural India, as noted in the statement.
