Nagpur, Jan 18 (NationPress) The beneficiaries of the SVAMITVA scheme conveyed their heartfelt thanks to the Modi government on Saturday, labeling this initiative as a revolutionary change for millions of villagers nationwide. They highlighted how the scheme has provided them with precise property ownership data, making land record maintenance significantly easier. Many also recounted their experiences of interacting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

With the issuance of 6.5 million property cards across over 50,000 villages in 12 states and Union territories, PM Modi's SVAMITVA scheme is already creating a remarkable impact in rural India. The beneficiaries mentioned that this initiative has not only minimized land disputes but has also fortified their property rights, paving the way for new opportunities for economic development.

Several beneficiaries from Maharashtra's Nagpur district shared their profound experiences with IANS, particularly emphasizing the positive effects of receiving the property card and their virtual interaction with PM Modi.

Raushan Patil, a farmer from Mangalpur village, shared how the scheme has transformed his life:

“I’ve been farming in my village for years. When I received the SVAMITVA card on October 1, 2023, everything changed. With the card, I was able to secure a loan to build my house and enhance my farming with improved irrigation. My income has risen, and my farming has become more efficient. The most significant advantage, however, is that this card acts as solid proof of ownership. Previously, disputes arose between siblings over land rights, but now, due to the drone survey and clear ownership records, everyone has defined rights to their land. This has completely resolved the conflicts and restored harmony to our family.”

Raushan also pointed out that the SVAMITVA scheme has clarified land ownership and drastically reduced dispute occurrences.

“In the past, there were constant arguments over land due to unclear ownership. Now, with precise documentation, we enjoy a sense of security, and all disputes have been addressed. This card is a lifesaver, and it’s a tremendous relief for us,” he stated.

Chetram Uikey, another beneficiary, emphasized how the scheme opened up financial avenues for him.

“I had been hoping for something like this for a long time. The SVAMITVA card serves as a permanent proof of ownership. Now, I can approach the bank for loans without complications. Previously, even though we owned land, proving ownership or leveraging it for financial purposes was challenging. But with this card, I can confidently assert that my property is mine, enabling me to enhance my life,” he shared.

Chetram also expressed his contentment with the government's backing and how the card simplifies access to loans and financial schemes for villagers: “Now that we have the card, I can easily apply for loans. The property is now a legal asset, and I believe this will significantly brighten our village's financial outlook. Additionally, the Prime Minister's support for the scheduled caste community is incredibly uplifting, as it will aid many who have faced challenges in farming due to limited resources.”

He also mentioned his enthusiasm about the opportunity to connect with PM Modi virtually, stating, “It was inspiring to hear directly from the Prime Minister. While a personal connection would have been even better, hearing from him was truly uplifting. I believe this scheme will foster lasting changes in our village and others like it.”

Earlier that day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the beneficiaries virtually during the property card distribution event.

“SVAMITVA is not merely about land ownership; it’s about securing your rights, your future, and your financial independence. This scheme will contribute to the economic development of rural areas, thereby enhancing the quality of life for millions of citizens,” PM Modi remarked.

Today, over 6.5 million property cards were distributed to property owners in more than 50,000 villages across 230 districts. The program assists rural families in claiming their rightful land, resolving conflicts, and increasing access to financial support, marking a significant milestone in India's rural development journey. The SVAMITVA scheme employs advanced drone and Geographic Information System (GIS) technology for mapping and documenting land ownership.
