Prashant Kishor Initiates Hunger Strike Today to Address BPSC Aspirants' Issues

New Delhi, Jan 2 (NationPress) The Jan Suraaj Party leader Prashant Kishor is preparing to launch an indefinite hunger strike starting Thursday, advocating for the issues faced by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants to be recognized.
This action comes amid rising discontent among candidates who are protesting supposed irregularities in the 70th BPSC Preliminary Examination held on December 13.
Kishor had previously given a 48-hour ultimatum to the Bihar government, urging them to respond to the demands of the students, who are insisting on the cancellation of the examination and a re-conduct. With no solution forthcoming, Kishor declared his intention to initiate a sit-in protest starting January 2.
In a statement to the press, the Jan Suraaj leader expressed support for the students, declaring, "If injustice is committed against the students, we will support them with all our strength."
The uproar is fueled by claims that the examination questions were of inferior quality, akin to those used in police recruitment tests, and closely mirrored model papers from coaching centers. The examination aimed to fill 2,031 positions, including 200 Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) and 136 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), marking one of the most significant recruitment efforts in recent history.
Compounding the situation, the police have filed an FIR against 700 people, including Kishor, following protests at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Sunday. This protest escalated into a lathi-charge incident, leading Raj Bhavan to summon the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and the District Magistrate (DM) for clarification.
BPSC Chairman Ravi Manu Bhai Parmar met with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Monday to discuss the matter but made it clear that the examination would not be canceled or re-administered.
Despite this position, Kishor and the protesting aspirants remain steadfast in their demands, continuing to draw attention to the prevailing controversy.
