Prashant Kishor's Hunger Strike Demands Accountability in BPSC Preliminary Exam

Patna, Jan 3 (NationPress) Prashant Kishor, the Jan Suraaj Party leader, amplified his protest by commencing a hunger strike at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, advocating for BPSC candidates who are demanding justice concerning supposed irregularities in the 70th BPSC Preliminary Examination.

His protest has garnered significant attention, prompting the state administration to respond.

On Friday, the Patna Additional District Magistrate visited the site of the protest, attempting to convince Kishor to end his hunger strike.

Nonetheless, Kishor made his stance clear, asserting: "Thousands of children trust me. On December 29, I urged students to comply with the administration's directives and disperse, yet they faced brutal police action. I will not terminate this movement based on the administration's requests."

The Bihar government has mobilized police forces at Gandhi Maidan to oversee the situation closely.

Kishor's unwavering commitment has heightened tensions, increasing pressure on the administration to respond to the students' concerns.

This hunger strike follows a 17-day protest by students and political factions regarding alleged paper leaks and irregularities in the BPSC exam.

Kishor joined the cause to show his solidarity, enhancing its visibility.

He continued his hunger strike on Friday at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

Kishor stated that the only condition for ending the hunger strike is: "This movement will only conclude when the Chief Minister meets with the students, listens to their grievances, and permits them to determine the next steps. I will adhere to the children's decision."

The Jan Suraaj Party leader and the candidates are urging the government to address five key issues, including a re-examination of the 70th BPSC Preliminary Exam, ensuring transparency in the recruitment process, accountability for the alleged paper leaks, reforms to avert future examination discrepancies, and justice for students impacted by the current examination scandal.

Thousands of BPSC candidates, student organizations, and supporters of the Jan Suraaj Party have rallied behind Kishor at Gandhi Maidan.

Students are chanting slogans against the administration, proclaiming: "A government unable to conduct a re-examination is ineffective."

The atmosphere is charged with enthusiasm and a collective determination to persist with the peaceful protest until their demands are fulfilled.

Despite the harsh cold, Kishor and his supporters remain resolute.
