Bhubaneswar, Nov 27 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday urged political leaders, farmers, laborers, women, bureaucrats, intellectuals, and the youth of Odisha to unite in their efforts to create a thriving State by 2036. She emphasized that this achievement would be Odisha's most significant contribution to India's ambition of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

In her landmark address to the Odisha Assembly members, President Murmu highlighted that Odisha is rich in minerals, forests, water, and human resources.

She pointed out that the State’s extensive coastline and fertile terrain create ideal conditions for the advancement of agriculture, industry, and commerce. By effectively harnessing these natural resources, Odisha has the potential to emerge as a leading state in the nation.

“The centenary of Odisha's establishment will be marked in 2036. If we collaborate to foster a prosperous Odisha by then, it will be our State's finest contribution to helping India become a developed nation by 2047,” stated Murmu.

The President also expressed her belief that everyone would engage with a 'Nation First' mindset. She acknowledged Odisha's swift progress.

President Murmu commended the Odisha government for launching numerous initiatives in sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, and the advancement of tribal and other marginalized communities, along with housing and disaster management.

She was pleased to observe that the industrialization process in Odisha is evolving positively due to the joint efforts of both central and state governments.

According to the President, MLAs serve as representatives of the populace. The people of Odisha have high hopes and trust in their leaders, assigning them significant responsibilities. It falls upon the MLAs to meet citizens’ expectations, fulfill their aspirations, and bring joy to their lives.

While addressing the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Murmu shared her feelings of nostalgia as memories of her time as a legislator resurfaced.

She reflected on her past experiences of posing questions and responding to them as a minister within this very house. The President remarked that Odisha has played an integral role in India's freedom struggle and nation-building, witnessing the transformation of Chandashoka into Dharmashok.

She noted that the tribal communities of Odisha have set a precedent for the nation by resisting foreign domination. President Murmu emphasized the long-standing tradition of women's empowerment in Odisha.

She expressed pride in the fact that the Odisha Legislative Assembly has a rich history of female representation. Throughout history, there has never been a legislative assembly in Odisha devoid of women's involvement, both before and after independence.

She concluded by stating that women from Odisha have brought glory to the nation through their accomplishments in diverse fields.
