New Delhi, June 30 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu will commence her two-day visit to Gorakhpur on Monday, where she will participate in the inaugural convocation ceremony of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Gorakhpur.
As per the information from the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), on July 1, she will launch the first AYUSH University in Pipri, Bhathat. This initiative is crucial for enhancing traditional medicine and holistic healthcare education within the state.
This visit marks President Murmu’s fourth trip to Gorakhpur in seven years, again at the invitation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. It also signifies the second occasion in recent history where a sitting president has visited both AIIMS and a prominent state university in Gorakhpur, underscoring the city’s rising national significance.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally inspected the 31-kilometre route for the President’s journey from the city to Pipri, ensuring that all arrangements are of the highest standard.
He has also instructed that the Gorakhnath Temple, where the President is expected to offer her prayers, provide specially prepared meals that reflect her esteemed position.
Security measures have been significantly enhanced. SP (City) Abhinav Tyagi confirmed that the AIIMS auditorium and campus are under comprehensive security coverage, with OPD services suspended for June 30.
A 5-km radius around the Circuit House has been established as a no-fly zone, and a three-tier security system is active.
In April, CM Yogi laid the foundation stone for a 500-bed 'Powergrid Vishram Sadan' at AIIMS Gorakhpur. This facility, aimed at assisting patients and their families, is being constructed at a cost of Rs 44 crore under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Power Grid Corporation of India.
