She described India's traditional Ayurveda as "a scientific system of meaningful and long-lasting health."
While addressing the audience, President Murmu remarked, "This university, linked with the esteemed Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath, signifies not only India's spiritual resilience but also a pivotal advancement in traditional healthcare systems."
She emphasized the relevance of holistic health practices such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Siddha, and Naturopathy, referring to them as "scientific systems of meaningful and long-lasting health."
According to the President, "In our ancient lifestyle influenced by Ayurveda, significant emphasis was placed on daily routines, night habits, and seasonal practices. A balanced diet, conduct, and mindset were prioritized. Here, health serves as the cornerstone of Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha."
She also highlighted the significance of medicinal plants, stating, "Ayurveda is intertwined with our earth. In our fields and forests, there exists a treasure trove of medicinal plants and herbs. The remedies derived from these have no expiration date, showcasing the remarkable scientific essence of Ayurveda."
President Murmu noted that this university, the first dedicated AYUSH institution in Uttar Pradesh, will enhance medical education across over 100 affiliated colleges, providing training from undergraduate to doctoral levels. She commended the government’s commitment to research and the global standardization of Indian traditional medicine.
Additionally, she praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his vision and efforts in founding the university and recognized the guidance of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, who serves as Chancellor of all state universities.
“India’s AYUSH systems exemplify a holistic and sustainable healthcare model,” President Murmu stated, advocating for increased adoption and international acknowledgment of these practices based on the philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' — the world is one family.
