Buldhana, Feb 25 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu emphasized on Wednesday the significant impact of Ayush systems of medicine on public health.
“Practices such as Yoga, Ayurveda, and Siddha have been beneficial to humanity since the early days of contemporary medicine,” she remarked.
During her address at the inauguration of the National Arogya Fair in Shegaon, located in the Buldhana district, she highlighted that healthy citizens are vital for the nation’s progress.
The President pointed out that the resources found in our farms, kitchens, and forests constitute a rich reserve of medicinal plants and health-promoting herbs. It is essential to preserve and enhance this wealth for supplying raw materials necessary for medicines while also maintaining ecological balance.
“The cultivation of medicinal plants not only enhances the financial circumstances of farmers but also promotes soil health and conservation. Thus, advocating for AYUSH systems improves both physical and economic well-being while aiding environmental sustainability,” she stated.
The President indicated that Ayurveda, yoga, and other AYUSH practices provide valuable insights for leading a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
“The global community is increasingly acknowledging the significance of integrative medicine in preventing diseases. People across the globe are embracing yoga for a stress-free lifestyle and reaping the benefits of Ayurvedic treatments,” she elaborated.
According to the President, initiatives such as evidence-based research, standardization of medicines, and quality control will further solidify the recognition and acceptance of AYUSH systems.
She added that the Ministry of AYUSH is diligently working towards this goal.
“Guidelines for research and drug development have been created following international standards. Numerous scientific efforts are in progress to establish Ayurveda, yoga, and other AYUSH systems as credible, scientific solutions to contemporary health issues,” she said.
She expressed optimism that through modern scientific advancements, innovations, and global partnerships, traditional medicine systems can become more accessible and widely accepted.
“We aim to integrate them into the holistic healthcare framework,” the President concluded.
